Refrigerant characteristics
R32 and R290 are both used in modern heat-pump systems, but they have different physical and safety characteristics. R32 is mildly flammable, while R290 is highly flammable and requires specific handling and system safety provisions.
Efficiency is not just the refrigerant
Seasonal performance depends on the whole system: compressor, heat exchangers, controls, operating temperatures, climate, defrost strategy and hydraulic design. Comparing only the refrigerant does not determine the performance of a complete product.
How to compare offers
Ask for standardized performance data, operating limits, noise information, refrigerant charge, installation requirements, service procedures and applicable conformity documentation.
